Windows 7 Workstation and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 Manufacturer Support Will End January 14, 2020!
Patches and security updates for these operating systems will no longer be released by the manufacturer after this date.
What does this mean?
If your organization is currently running on Windows 7 Workstation or Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, vulnerability to viruses and malware will increase after the deadline above. For medical practices this will also affect HIPAA compliancy as Security Rule 45 § C.F.R 164.308 (a)(5)(ii)(B) requires organizations to ensure procedures are in place to detect, guard against, and report malicious software.
